Sudomemo Featured Artist: DrawXAngel (January 29th, 2020)

Hello Flipnote fans! We're glad to announce our next Featured Artist: DrawXAngel! DrawXAngel joined Sudomemo in Summer 2015, instantly setting off to prove herself as a very skilled animator and improving in strides.

Please tell us about yourself.

Hi! My name is Amy, but my prefered name is DrawXAngel (or Angel, which is less of a mouthful). I'm really just a small town artist from Peru, currently living in the USA, and honestly I think art is amazingly fun and awesome! I've been drawing for the majority of my life, though my art started gaining consistency back in 2013. When I was a child, I wanted to use my popularity to benefit others; I've used my skills to help my father out as well as provide for artists in need. I've always had a big heart I guess!

I do currently have a fiance that was also trying to be a Sudomemo artist, but his DSi died (RIP). I'm certain that's enough information for now! A pleasure!

What are your interests or hobbies, and how do you spend your free time?

Other than doing art, I am actually an active dancer and singer. I’ve always loved EDM music and spend some days dancing my heart out! I also really enjoy voice acting as well as writing; which I do to develop the stories that I share.

Please introduce some of your best Flipnotes, and tell us why you like them.

Surprisingly, it's NOT my most popular Flipnotes, but rather it's the ones I worked the most on!

Overcoming Battle

This fighting animation truly did take me out of my comfort zone of animation as the scenes here are a great representation of what I wish to animate. Old, yeah but it's the most awesome I've worked on!

Experimentation

This is a short animation featuring my character Estrella. Her main features are that her colours are blue and red! The animation turned out really well when it came to the flow of her tail and the coloring.

Cursed Goddess

One of my darker Flipnotes, creepy yeah, but I can say that I did really great with the effects!

What techniques or skills are you especially good at in your Flipnotes? What are some techniques or skills that you wish to improve?

I would say that I work well in the traditional animation style of Japanese produced animated content since as of now I animate at 24 FPS. I also am super great at making flowy clothing and hair, something I've always urged myself to keep practicing on. As for improvements, I would say I would need to improve on the flow of my animations, as there's times when it ends up choppy. It's a bit difficult to see the onion skins (Lightbox in Flipnote Studio) and draw at the same time. I'm also working on improving how I do body proportions.

Please introduce some of your favorite artists on Sudomemo.

Definitely Welve.!

When I first began to view their Flipnotes I admired that they animated at speed 7! It truly did push me to start working with faster speeds!

As well as my dear friend •Kiankon•±. They've really been a great inspiration to me ever since I found their Flipnotes, and now I'm their best friend and they're mine as well thanks to Sudomemo!

Is there something you would like to say to the Sudomemo community?

Never ever give up on animation if it's your dream! It's tough to do, oh yes, but it's super worth it in the end! You're all animating in a form that is rather dead in today's age, I am so very proud of you all!
